RIP Adam Yauch

Beastie Boy MCA aka Adam Yauch has passed away. He was 47.

Adam Yauch directed the Beastie Boys videos under the name Nathaniel Hörnblower and ran movie production and distribution company Oscilloscope . He was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and it looks like he finally lost the battle.

"I wanna say a little something that's long overdue, this disrespect to women has got to be through, to all the mothers and the sisters and the wives and friends, I wanna offer my love and respect to the end."
Sure Shot - Beastie Boys

Adam Yauch - thank you for the music and crazy videos.
Rest in peace.

Pitchfork has a good obituary - read it.

RIP Amy Winehouse

British singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her apartment in Camden, London yesterday. It's a shame that such a talented performer never found her way out of the prison that is addiction. Club 27 did not need another member.

Guardian has a good obituary and a few other articles about Amy Winehouse such as Amy Winehouse: a creative inspiration for young female artists.

RIP Tony Curtis

Tony Curtis, whom I'll forever love for his portrayal of Joe/Josephine in Some Like It Hot, has passed away.

Tony Curtis and puppy.

If you've never seen Some Like It Hot you're missing out. It's one of the best comedies ever made. 1959 was a good year for movies.

RIP Malcolm McLaren

Malcolm McLaren, the man behind the clothing store Sex, manager of Sex Pistols, designer and provocateur has passed away. He was the kind of person I loved to dislike. Opinionated, loud and always sure of his own excellence.

I guess it's just got a bit louder on the other side.

Malcolm

He was a sharp dresser back in the 70's.

Joseph Corré, the founder of Agent Provocateur is the son of Malcolm and fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.

I got the news from the Independent.
