"The Killer" from Louisiana turns 75 today and is still making music. He's got a new album out called Mean Old Man. The title track was written by Kris Kristofferson.
I love his hair at 0:36 in this video. Seems like no amount of pomade could tame those curls.
Check out the book Hellfire: The Jerry Lee Lewis Story by Nick Tosches, it's a great rock n roll biography.

I never leave a bookstore empty handed
I went to a local bookstore during my lunch hour to get some birthday presents for Rob's twin boys who'll be 8 soon. Ah... bookstores. I can wander around a good one for hours.
Books and reading were a big part of my childhood. It's no coincidence that I'm a journalist and my sister is a librarian.
I found two great books for the birthday boys, one by Neil Gaiman and one by Roald Dahl. I looked at a lot of books that seemed great, but in the end I picked two that I have read and loved.
And I also found a little something for myself. Vintage Surfing by Jim Heimann.

Monday Morning Creativity
This morning I spent ten minutes I didn't have wrapping a belated birthday present for Andy's niece Tove. Because even two year old girls deserved to get presents that are nicely wrapped.
I made a quick card using a pink pipe cleaner, a piece of cardboard and a glue stick. I twisted the pipe cleaner into Tove's name, cut out a cardboard heart and glued them together. I put some leftover cardboard on top and weighed the card down with the Maker's Mark bottle while it dried and I put my make up on. And no, I did not have Maker's Mark for breakfast.
Just before I had to run to catch my train I glued the card to the package. And took some pictures.
Gift wrap from Lagerhaus.

Four birthdays and a horse
I'm hurting all over today. I spent Saturday morning on horseback with Mia and Johannes, followed by a game of laserdome (aka laser tag) and dinner. It was mine and Mia's birthday present to Johannes. A fun day, but a lot of hard work.
And then it was off to celebrate my mother's birthday and walk the dog. Because three hours of physical activity just wasn't enough for me...
With Feill
Johannes and Mia
You'd think I'd spend my Sunday relaxing at home, resting all those sore muscles I'd forgotten I had. But oh no, I had lunch with a friend and celebrated twins Alex and Philip's sixth birthday. No wonder I'm feeling drained today.
