Listmania 2008

I was asked to list my top five things about music in 2008 by Sörling who runs the Swedish punk blog Turist i tillvaron. You can find my list here.

For those who don't speak Swedish, my number one is Flogging Molly in Lund. I wrote about that gig here.
Number two is the book "New Brunswick, New Jersey, Goodbye" by Ronen Kauffman, which I wrote about in May.

J.Tex and the Volunteers are third, followed by H2O releasing "Nothing To Prove". Number five is Mindless Self Indulgence.

It's A Boy!

I ran this blog through the GenderAnalyzer, a website that uses atificial intelligence to determine if your blog is written by a man or a woman.

The result?
We think http://punkinwriting.blogspot.com/ is written by a man (74%).

Excuse me? In recent posts I've covered vintage hairstyling, shopping and my inner cowgirl. I've also written about punk, photography, skateboarding and books.

What I'd like to know is how a blog written by a woman differs from a blog written by a man.

Gaiman's Graveyard Book

The Graveyard Book raced past every other book in my neat stack when I found it at the sci-fi bookstore. Sorry Russel Brand and Vivian Cash, your autobiographies will just have to wait.

I read Neil Gaiman's blog from time to time so I've followed his work on the book. There is a clip on his website where he explains the origins of the book.
Neil Gaiman updates like crazy and he is posting the entire book in the form of readings from his book tour for free. So far the first six chapters have been posted.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm on page 120 and I need to get reading...
But I will say that if you liked his earlier work you'll love The Graveyard Book. And if you haven't seen Stardust, you should.
