Gingerbread Cupcake

A gingerbread house in the shape of a giant cupcake? Saw this at Cafe 13 in Ljungby today. They also had a sparkly white Christmas tree with cupcake ornaments and multi-colored lights.

Small towns have the best flea markets and Mom and I lucked out today. Vintage tablecloths, candlesticks and a big portrait of Jesus. Did I mention that my mother is a Reverend?

Cupcake!

 Candlestick and vintage tablecloth.

We dropped by Grandma for a visit and I found a group of tomtenissar (Santa's little helpers) eating rice porridge. My mom made these little fellas from an old egg box, felt and other bits and pieces when I was a kid. I got all nostalgic and took them home with me.

Sweet Sunday

A cosy brunch with my sister, coffee with Mom and a long walk with Pax. The snow is slowly melting and I don't have to shovel snow to get in and out of my parking space.

Pax and the disappearing snow.

I can't wait for spring... sunshine, flowers and longer days. But today proved that we're moving in the right direction. Since it's too cold for actual flowers to grow on my balcony I treated myself to this cupcake with flowers.

Sharing The Sugar

We had the relatives here today, celebrating two birthdays. I did three diffrent versions of banana cupcakes and a chocolate fudge cake, my sister brought vanilla cupcakes with cherries on top.

Little Sister's Cherry Cupcakes.

I remembered to take some photos with my phone camera just before we started running out of cupcakes.

Mini Banana Cupcakes with chocolate buttercream.
Topped with sprinkles made from banana chips.

I've still got some leftovers in the fridge. So feel free to drop by if you're in the mood for cupcakes!

Am I Turning Into A Domestic Goddess?

I don't understand what's going on. All of a sudden I find myself running around the flat (that's the condo to those of you from the US of A) picking up stray items, folding laundry and sorting stuff.

I started the day by doing laundry. I had breakfast that didn't come in a box, took out the trash, did the ironing, folded the laundry and cooked lunch.
And now I feel an urge to buy new plants and bake something wearing my cupcake apron. Have I finally gone mad?

I think I'd better sit down and eat chocolate until it goes away.

Maybe even put in an ad for a butler. Preferably a Jeeves-type who can make tea, cook a full English breakfast and say things like "certainly miss, I shall see to it at once".

Mini Gingerbread Cupcakes

I haven't had much time for cooking or baking lately, but yesterday I managed to make mini gingerbread cupcakes. The hearts are made of simple frosting; confectioner's sugar, water and lemon juice.
Please excuse the shoddy cell phone photos.

Treats for tomorrow

I've just made a bunch of chocolate fudge cupcakes for Lady Windermere's Halloween party. I'm really pleased with the purple frosting. Photo taken with my phone, hence the pale colors.

Cupcake Crazy

I think I must have channeled Martha Stewart in my sleep, because I woke up feeling a need to make cupcakes. I started looking at food blogs and we all know how that ends.

I decided to make a basic vanilla cupcake recipe and focus on the frosting. I made one batch of cupcakes but divided the mixture into small and medium cupcake liners.
I covered the smaller ones with a vanilla buttercream frosting and a cherry on top.

The bigger ones got a coat of classic Swedish icing (water and confectioners sugar) colored dark grey. I then used licorice rope as legs and licorice allsorts as eyes.

Now I've only got one problem. Who's gonna eat all these cupcakes and save me from a sugar rush that's gonna last for days?
