Back Patch

Made a back patch for my vintage vest the other day. The patch used to be the front of a very large t-shirt. I was gonna sew it on by hand but then my wonderful co-worker Helena offered to do it for me. She makes quilts and has a good sewing machine.

The vest - complete with Bouncing Souls back patch - was on my desk when I came into work today. Sweet way to start a Monday.

The Five Minute T-Shirt Revamp

It was just a regular t-shirt when it arrived yesterday. It fit and all that but it lacked oomph. I decided to change that.

This morning I got out my fabric scissors and five minutes (or three Teenage Bottlerocket songs) later it looked a little different. I simply cut off the neck band and cut off the ends of the sleeves just above the hem stitching. That left me with two strips of fabric that were 2 cm wide. I used those to tie the shirt at the shoulders and create a boatneck. Done!

Ta-Daaah!

There are a lot of revamps that are really easy and don't require any sewing. You can practice on an old t-shirt so you get the hang of it - and that shirt can also be used as a template later on.
A good pair of fabric scissors is a great investment - they really make a difference!

Late Night Domestics

I don't know what you get up to when you come home from a night on the town. Me, I go all domestic. We're talking laundry that gets folded, dishes that get washed and clutter that gets organized. Sometimes there are plates of meze.

This week I reorganized my hallway table when I got home at 2.30 am on Thursday morning. My hallway is that cluttered little place where keys, hairbrushes, lipsticks, spare change, trinkets, shoes and wallets live. By the way, don't be fooled by these photos - there is another shoe rack on the other side of the door. A woman needs more than three pairs of shoes to choose from.

Anyway. I didn't get a "before" photo as it was 2.30 am and I was tired and had rum and ginger ale in my system. But the table was messy and cluttered.

I bought this vintage Starline train case last summer but didn't really use it for anything. Then I realized that the train case has compartments, looks stylish... I'm gonna use it to organize my hallway!

Keys, phone, trinkets and lipsticks.

So that's what I did. And then I brushed my teeth and went to bed.

Am I Turning Into A Domestic Goddess?

I don't understand what's going on. All of a sudden I find myself running around the flat (that's the condo to those of you from the US of A) picking up stray items, folding laundry and sorting stuff.

I started the day by doing laundry. I had breakfast that didn't come in a box, took out the trash, did the ironing, folded the laundry and cooked lunch.
And now I feel an urge to buy new plants and bake something wearing my cupcake apron. Have I finally gone mad?

I think I'd better sit down and eat chocolate until it goes away.

Maybe even put in an ad for a butler. Preferably a Jeeves-type who can make tea, cook a full English breakfast and say things like "certainly miss, I shall see to it at once".

I got a big box of sugary goodness from the US of A yesterday. I did a candy swap with Billie from Flushing, NY. We agreed to spend 20 us dollars each, she bought American candy for me and I bought her some Swedish candy such as Dumle, Ahlgrens bilar and Djungelvrål.
Just look at all this. Watermelon candy, Reeses and Poptarts. I'm gonna be on a sugar high for days...

A forum like Punk Rock Domestics has so many uses. ;)

Another kind of sugary goodness is New Found Glory's brand new greatest hits compilation, appropriately named Hits.
Why, oh why do they only ever play gigs in the UK? Are they scared of Scandinavia?
NFGs show with Paramore in Copenhagen got cancelled and has yet to be rescheduled. I don't really care about Paramore, I just want to hear "My Friends Over You" and "Constant Static" live.
